Spaceman on Terra Firma
I decided to plan a small gathering for dinner for my 48th birthday and I invited a few friends to get dolled up for the occasion. One friend asked what I was going to wear and I told him I bought a silver dress. He decided to wear silver too!
Me and my muses, Ty & Britten
Ty showed up in a silver astronaut costume and of course I thought, well we have to get at least one more wearing out of it and do a photo shoot! So the next month we met up at the nature center and took some snaps.
I noticed I have a tendency sometimes to put characters in places you wouldn't normally expect. For example, Britten's flapper girl on the bike trail or her very fashionable alien at Cowtown. I think it comes from my own feeling of being out of place, an observer driving this body around.
So for the spaceman, I did want to touch on feelings of being an explorer along with being thoughtful and pensive about what he's even doing there and pride about where you come from. A few themes bouncing around in my noggin that I somehow managed to communicate to Ty, and he executed quite well! Doesn't hurt that he's a pro, very patient with this amateur hobbyist that struggles with putting thoughts into words and into speech. This blog is also good practice for me to improve how I get ideas across.
I shot these on 3 different cameras, Nikon L35AF (Kodak Royal Gold 200), Canon AT-1 (Svema MZ3), and Pentax 6x7 (Kodak Ektar 100) which is a beast of a camera I don't lug around nearly often enough.
